Where does Hillary Clinton Stand on Children’s Rights in the USA?

Urge Secretary Clinton to Help Save Ariana-Leilani

How a leader handles a crisis reveals what they are made of and the quality of the people they choose to support them.   Do they respond with integrity?  Do they check the facts before they act?  Are they careful about who they get their information from?

Around the time the US press was preoccupied with the Bengazi scandal, the US Press overlooked another international scandal that was closer to home but just as concerning.

Due to concerns expressed by medical and humanitarian authorities, the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography made an inquiry to Secretary Clinton’s US State Department questioning the US violations of the rights of dual citizen German-American Ariana-Leilani, who lives in Washington DC.

Rather than make an independent inquiry into those concerns, Secretary Clinton’s State Department blindly referred the matter to the District of Columbia Child and Family Services (DC CFS) — which has a well established record of incompetence that is so poor it is under a US Federal Court monitor.    Not surprisingly, the leaders of the DC CFSA at the time had known sex offenses (its Director having had sex with one of his young patients, and the other, its General Counsel, charged and placed on probation for indecent exposure in a public restroom).   Despite those sex offense records, both were allowed to run and operate the agency that was responsible for protecting DC’s children.   The then General Counsel of the DC CFSA, James Toscano Court Papers, personally interfered with Ariana-Leilani’s getting relief from abuse and neglect, including engaging in ex parte communications with a DC Superior Court judge and making false statements to that judge to help cover up the abuse and neglect that Ariana-Leilani was suffering.

As part of its coverup of the abuse and neglect of Ariana-Leilani, based on documents obtained from the Department of State, DC Child and Family Services Agency (DC Child Protection Services) had Mr. Toscano author the misleading and inaccurate response for the Department of State to the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.  Not surprisingly, his response was filled with misstatements of the facts, misleading the Secretary Clinton’s US Department of State, and in turn, the UN Special Rapporteur.

The real disappointment here is that Secretary Clinton’s Department of State blindly forwarded — under Secretary Clinton’s signature —  the Toscano-drafted response to the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.   We have to presume this was done by her without either checking the facts or checking the background of the author of the underlying letter.   As a result, the UN Special Rapporteur took no action and Ariana-Leilani continues to suffer.

In her run for the Presidential offices, Secretary Clinton should be as concerned about children’s rights and she is about women’s rights.   Unfortunately Secretary Clinton’s record has not demonstrated any concern for children’s rights — including failing to have the US ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.   Thus, help urge Secretary Clinton to protect children’s rights, to right this wrong, and to use her influence to help Save Ariana-Leilani…

Vienna, 20 November 2012 (UNODC) – On United Nations Universal Children’s Day the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for the Victims of Human Trafficking issued the following statement:

“The date, 20th November marks the day on which both the Declaration on the Rights of the Child (1959), and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) were adopted by the General Assembly. In observance of the 23rd anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child of the United Nations, the trustees of the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking, in particular women and children, would like to call for a targeted and immediate response to the plight of millions of children around the world who are still denied their fundamental rights and are prevented from the enjoyment of a happy childhood. Remembering particularly at this time the young girls and boys who are subjected to the worst forms of child labour, suffer physical, psychological or sexual abuse – which include and are not limited to human trafficking, sexual exploitation and forced engagement in illicit activities.

“On this day, we would like to reiterate the importance of the Trust Fund, established in 2010, with the objective to provide humanitarian, legal and financial aid to victims of trafficking in persons through established channels of assistance, such as governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. Through its 2011 Small Grants Facility, the Fund awarded multi-year grants of up to US $ 25,000 per year to NGOs located in different parts of the world. Grass-roots organizations were provided with financial resources to take concrete actions in protecting children in vulnerable situations, placing children in safe environments, providing them with social services, health care, psychosocial support, and where appropriate assist their reintegration with family and community.

“The trustees express their appreciation to governments, private sector entities and individuals who have made generous financial contributions, shown their concern and will to support anti-trafficking initiatives. On this day, we call for continued and increased financial support for the Fund to perform its mandated tasks. Human trafficking, is a global crime which transcends national boundaries, therefore requires a global response and global solutions. The Trust Fund is a UN system-wide fund, and in such, we appeal to other UN Agencies, governments, the private sector and individuals to cooperate and support the Fund, to ensure that victims are afforded the assistance they require. To show your solidarity with victims of this abhorrent crime.

“It is evident that around the world, there is growing support to join the efforts to combat exploitative practices which target vulnerable children. Today, we wish to reiterate our continued commitment to advocate on behalf of victims of human trafficking, and to ensure that the Trust Fund continues to implement its very important mandated work.”

UN Universal Children’s Day: Its Time the USA Joined the Rest of World and Ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Today, 20 November 2013 We Celebrate the  24th year of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

All of the other countries of the world (192 in all) have ratified the convention recognizing that children have rights.  the USA is the only developed country left that has  not signed that convention and recognized children’s rights.

Even though the USA helped draft the convention and signed it 20 years ago, the USA has reneged on its commitment to the children and the international community by not ratifying the convention.

Isn’t it time to keep the promise to the world’s children who visit and live in the USA to assure that they have recognized rights. Isn’t it time to ratify the UNCRC.

The UNCRC is for all the world’s children.

The US Must Respect Human Rights, Stop Spying on Its Allies and Sign the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

The recent revelations of US spying on allied leaders is part of a greater public relations problem of the US: appearing to exempt itself from the rules that apply to other countries.

The moral authority of the US is at an all time low, and the diminished view is, for the most part, the fault of the US itself.   Its failure to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) exemplifies the problem and is having detrimental life threatening effect on children in the US.

The US helped draft the UN CRC and even signed it when it was originally adopted.  However, after 20 years the US is the only developed country that has not ratified it.    The failure of the US to provide life saving medicine to dual citizen, German-American Ariana-Leilani after six years of suffering is a direct consequence of the US failure to respect the international rights of children living within its borders.

It is time for the US to respect 10 year old Ariana-Leilani’s rights and for the US to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.  It is time for the US to join the rest of the world.

Join the thousands of others who have signed the petition urging President Obama to immediately take action to save Ariana-Leilani and to ratify the UNCRC.

A Gullah/Geechee Child’s Life at Risk: Saving Ariana-Leilani · Gullah/Geechee Nation

Queen Queth of Gallah/Geechee Nation

Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation writes in the Gullah/Geechee Nation Website:

Since 1999, I have been blessed with the opportunity to walk the halls and contribute to the global dialogues in the United Nations both in Genevé, Switzerland and New York City in the USA.   When I became the first Gullah/Geechee to speak in this world arena on behalf of my people, the Gullah/Geechees, it was during a time when very few people around the world seemed to know that we existed much less to know about the human rights abuses that we had to endure.  In addition to that, many Gullah/Geechees then and many still do not understand their connection to international law and human rights.  They have fought time and time again to have their civil rights protected and to react to local laws that caused their displacement and destructionment, but they did not believe that taking our issues beyond the boarders of America could be done or would be respected, but when the International Human Rights Association for American Minorities (IHRAAM) heard of the Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition  (www.gullahgeechee.net) and the work that I had been doing for years to help people become aware of Gullah/Geechees as ONE people that needed to be respected and protected, they offered the opportunity to open the door to the global arena not just for me, but for my people.

….

My spirit has reach back across the ocean and up the east coast simultaneously to embrace Dr. King who works for ECOSOC at the United Nations in Genevé, Switzerland and to Ariana-Leilani. I have called for global prayer warriors to join us in sending positive and healing energy to this young Gullah/Geechee descendant for us to keep her strong and reverse the disease and to get her released from this bondage that she is currently in. We want her to be able to walk out of this place where she is being kept and walk into the arms of her mother and family who will protect her rights as a child.

Because individuals do this, that does not mean that the US government shouldn’t be questioned for why this is being allowed to happen on United States soil while folks are being indoctrinated to believe that these types of stories can only happen in other parts of the world.  So, to help further the process of having the US intervene in this situation, please sign the petition to Save Ariana-Leilani:

The CIA’s Experiments on Children

The Hidden Tragedy of the CIA's Experiments on Children
(Image: Lance Page / t r u t h o u t😉

Bobby is seven years old, but this is not the first time he has been subjected to electroshock. It’s his third time. In all, over the next year, Bobby will experience eight electroshock sessions. Placed on the examining table, he is held down by two male attendants while the physician places a solution on his temples. Bobby struggles with the two men holding him down, but his efforts are useless. He cries out and tries to pull away. One of the attendants tries to force a thick wedge of rubber into his mouth. He turns his head sharply away and cries out, “Let me go, please. I don’t want to be here. Please, let me go.” Bobby’s physician looks irritated and she tells him, “Come on now, Bobby, try to act like a big boy and be still and relax.” Bobby turns his head away from the woman and opens his mouth for the wedge that will prevent him from biting through his tongue. He begins to cry silently, his small shoulders shaking and he stiffens his body against what he knows is coming.

Many of the experiments used drugs that have known side effects of neutropenia.

One of the commenters writes:

Thank you. I would add that these people were just a few of the many participating as CIA contractors out of Johns Hopkins, Georgetown University Hospital, and other prestigious institutions – always under the radar, of course, which is pretty convenient when you have a mission to be secret and a black budget. For those commenters who find it difficult to believe even after reading such a thoroughly supported article, just consider this was the tip of the iceberg. As for motive, it was ultimately about power and control. How much can the mind be manipulated for the “good” of mankind? How much can the brain and brain development be manipulated? (As was stated, the origins of these programs were in Nazi Germany and brought here thanks to a program called PROJECT PAPERCLIP.) I spent second half of the sixties, from age six to age 10 in a drug-induced daze or throwing up because of the effects of the drugs. My Naval Intelligence father – who had been led to believe I was in a “gifted child” program and was kept in the dark about what was being done – finally made the connection when he had to rush me to the hospital. He pulled me out of the program immediately, and was burned for his trouble and blacklisted for the rest of his life. (I actually had to be sent across the country to a safehouse; it might sound like a movie but I can assure you it was very very real and horrifying.) Our family has waited decades for more of this information to become public, hoping it was only a matter of time. There are good people working in the CIA with genuinely good intentions, but the CIA as an institution is an agent of absolute evil. It only takes one glance at the horror that is Blackwater (and there is a connection, but I won’t go into it here) to understand this.

Childrens Rights, Not Gun Rights, Needed in USA: The Case of 9 Year Old Ariana-Leilani Falling Through the Cracks in the USA

Watch the video broadcast of PressTV, December 19, 2012, reporting on Ariana-Leilani falling through the cracks, and the US Failure to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child after 20 years.  Why does the USA give more rights to gun owners than to children?
Ariana-Leilani Discussed On Press TV

Ariana-Leilani Discussed On Press TV

PressTV Reporter Marjon Asi writes:
The right to health, life, identity and protection from abuse. These are some of the major rights outlined in the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Almost every country in the UN is bound to it- except the United States and Somalia.

The UN NGO Innocence in Danger organized a press conference addressing this issue, stating the potential harm this may have on children in the United States.

One example of the effects of US non-membership to the global children’s rights treaty is Ariana Leilani King, a ten year old girl with dual German-American citizenship, who has medical problems that organizers state are not being properly addressed by the U.S. government.

For many Americans, this is a major cause of embarrassment, including President Obama who vowed to revive efforts to join the treaty when he first came to office in 2009. But three years later, this remains to be seen.

Many children’s rights advocates are speaking out against the US position, demanding that the government ratify the treaty.

Earlier this month the US Senate also voted against joining the UN Convention on the Rights of the Disable
